Nashik Branch of WIRC of ICAI

    Namaste Members,

As the new year dawns across India, let\'s celebrate the vibrant spirit of our nation, cherishing the bonds of family and community, and embracing the promise of a bright future. With the new year, we embrace new beginnings and newer opportunities. Let the coming year be a canvas for new beginnings, where each stroke paints a picture of progress, unity, and success. As we partake in the celebrations, let’s embrace the opportunities and potential that the forthcoming year shall bring

With the results of the Chartered Accountants final examinations being announced, I congratulate all the students who have cleared and entered into the elite group of individuals of the nation. Becoming a Chartered Accountant in itself is a great achievement which comes with a much greater responsibility towards the society. We being the strong pillars of the economic growth of the country, I urge all the students who have cleared the exam to work in a way to keep the trust in our profession strongly knitted in the minds of the people.

As we mourn over the passing of Dr. Manmohan Singh, the Architect of Indian Economic Reforms, let us remember him for his key role in steering India’s economic reforms in the 90s.  The words from his 1991 budget speech that have now proven to be truly prophetic, Dr. Manmohan Singh ended his budget speech with the words “No power on earth can stop an idea whose time has come. I suggest to this august House that the emergence of India as a major economic power in the world happens to be one such idea.”

Today, India stands at the forefront of a digital revolution, transforming the way its citizens live, work, and connect. Fuelled by advancements in technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT), the nation is witnessing unprecedented growth in digital infrastructure. Initiatives like “Digital India” have bridged the urban-rural divide, bringing e-governance, financial inclusion, and digital literacy to the remotest corners of the country. Startups and tech giants alike are driving innovation, making India a global hub for technological prowess. However, this revolution also demands a balance—stringent cybersecurity measures, equitable digital access, and ethical technology use. This is the place where we can find new opportunities and professional growth. With embracing the technology, we shall only take our profession to a level where we shall be serving the world for a better and secure digital future.

The elections for the 26th Central Council and 25th Regional Council concluded in the month of December and I salute all the responsible voters who contributed for the betterment and the future of the profession. I congratulate all the members who have been elected and wish them all the best for the forthcoming opportunities and challenges.

    Nashik Branch Elections 2025

As the branch elections shall also be held in the month of January, I request all the members to cast their vote and show our strength in this democratic process to elect the leaders of our own branch. As a member of this esteemed fraternity, we as Chartered Accountants should come together and vote for the profession. It is our vote that will strengthen our profession and shape the future for us. Voting is the expression of our commitment to ourselves, one another, the country and the world. We proudly call ourselves the partner in nation building and our vote will help us choose the leaders who shall lead our path in this journey towards integrity and excellence. Let us stand by it very loyally, let the altar of worship be our own Institute, our own country. We owe a homage to our country and our own Institute. It is our sacred duty to build it up, to strengthen it, to get for it the best of traditions and the highest status possible.

     Initiatives for Members and Students

In furtherance of our commitment to knowledge upgradation and skill enrichment, we had conducted various sessions in the month of December on a variety of topics like Income tax, GST, RERA, cyber security, Code of ethics, Standards on Auditing, etc. Two batches of the AICA course were successfully conducted in the month of December. Embracing the change and the adoption of AI tools in our daily work shall definitely improve our efficiency and professional competence. We hope that the members benefited from the same and our commitment to the cause of the continuing professional education and knowledge upliftment of the members has been served.

Also, at the students front, the WICASA committee has been working great and many events such as the extempore competition, paper presentation, various workshops on topics like AI tools, power BI, GSTR 9 and 9C, etc were held and we are glad to see the participative response and dedication received from the students towards learning from such initiatives. Such activities not only help the students in upgrading the knowledge but also in the skill enrichment and overall personal growth.

As part of our ongoing commitment to your health and safety, we at Nashik Branch had arranged a free blood-based Cancer Screening Test for over 30 types of cancer in the month of December. The test, which would normally cost Rs. 14,500/-, was provided free of charge to the members of the Nashik Branch and their families. I am very delighted to mention that more than 600 members and their family members have taken the benefit of the same. As a cause towards the healthy well being of the society, I am glad that a small contribution has been made by us towards this goal.

    Chartered Accountants’ Benevolent Fund

ICAI has always been working persistently for the benefit of its members and is diligently dedicated to their constant improvement and growth. Since 1962, the Chartered Accountants Benevolent Fund (CABF) is the medium through which ICAI is providing financial assistance to the dependants and families of its deceased members. CABF is a unique social security and benevolence program by the Members and for the Members and has played a very crucial role during COVID pandemic, by helping the members and their dependents.

CABF needs to be strengthened so that the Members in need can be provided suitable support within the stipulated framework. The CA fraternity is the core strength of the profession and needs to be acknowledged for the selfless service they do by contributing to CABF. I hereby appeal all the members to contribute wholeheartedly towards this noble cause.

The branch is continuously engaged in organising various events and activities for you all and I advise you to participate in these events as they offer a unique opportunity to interact with one another, the leaders from different facets of the industry and senior practitioners that shall help you to gain valuable insights into the matters of professional relevance.

On the auspicious occasion of the 76th Republic Day, let us reflect on the essence of our Constitution and honour the indomitable spirit of our nation builders. Their unwavering dedication has empowered us to act independently and shape our destiny. May this Republic Day inspire us to continue striving forward, contributing to the ongoing glory of our nation. “The Constitution is not a mere lawyer’s document, it is a vehicle of Life, and its spirit is always the spirit of Age”. - Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

I Once again wish everyone a very Happy New Year. May every day of 2025 unfold with new opportunities and amazing surprises.
